Earth and Space

IN THE BEGINIG

Genesis 1:1 states "In the beginning, God created the havens and the earth." From the very first verse God tells us how the earth and the world around us came into being. In just 6 days God made everything we see. Well, a perfect version of it anyway. You see after God made Adam and Eve they disobeyed the command God gave them, to not eat of the of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil when Satan disguised as a serpent deceived them. (Genesis 2:17, 3:1-7) They brought sin, death and suffering into the world, and passed that sin nature on to all mankind and the whole earth. (Genesis 3:17, Romans 5:12). They ruined God's perfect creation and were banished from the garden he made for them. Mankind continued to become more wicked over the next several hundred years until God decided he must judge them. (Genesis 6:5-7) He would send a worldwide flood that would destroy all flesh that lived on the earth and drastically change the world as those during that time knew it. (Genesis6:13, 17) But one man found favor with God, Noah. God called him to build an ark to save himself and his family of 8 along with two of every kind of animal that lived on the earth to replenish it after the flood. (Genesis 6:8, 14-22) Noah obeyed God and when the flood came he and his family and the animals God sent were kept safe on the ark.

Why are we different?

After the flood it didn't take long for people to once again go against one of God's commands. After leaving the ark God gave Noah's family instructions to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. (Genesis 9:1, 7) But the people after migrating away from the ark wanted to build a city and tower in order to make a name for themselves that they may not be dispersed over the face of the earth. (Genesis 9:1-4) The Lord did not want them to accomplish this task, He wanted them to obey His command. So he confused their language and forced the people to spread out over the face of the earth. (Genesis 9:5-9) This is why different people groups in different parts of the world look different and speak different languages. There is only one race, the Human Race created in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27, 3:20)

JESUS THE PATH TO LIFE

It may seem like God abandoned His creation to live in the confines of sin, but He didn't! He had a plan from the beginning to make a way for mankind to be saved and reconciled to Himself. (Genesis 3:15) He used the nation of Israel to bring His son Jesus into the world through the virgin birth by Mary in order that He could die for our sins. (Luke 1:26-38) He lived a perfect sinless life and did not die for His own sins, but for the sins of the whole world and rose again on the third day. (2 Corinthians 5:21 Romans 5:19 Philippians 2:8) God said anyone who repents of their sins and puts their faith in Jesus Christ will be saved from the eternal punishment they deserve (Romans 5:16-17, 10:9-10 Acts 16:31, 2:38 Mark 16:16)

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

So what about you? Are you on God's path to life? Have you placed your faith and trust in Jesus Christ? The Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that it is by grace that we are saved through faith. (Romans 3:23 Ephesians 2:8-10) Just take a look at the 10 commandments and you can see that none of us follow God's law perfectly. (Exodus 20:1-17) Have you ever stolen something? Coveted something? Told a lie? Lusted after someone? All sin no matter how "small" is equal in God's eyes and punishable by death, and eternal torment in hell. Jesus said he will return, but this time it will be to judge the world with fire. (Revelation 22:12-15, 22:7) But for those who have put their trust in Him He will them take with Him to Heaven (John 14:3) We pray that if you have not made the decision to give your life to Christ and follow Him that you would choose to do so. The purpose of man is to honor and glorify God his creator. (Psalm 29:2, 71:8 96:3 Matthew 5:16 John 15:8) Begin today to follow Him and bring glory to your creator who made you in His image!
